Happy Hulk - Color Club Holiday Splendour, Maybelline Boom Box Black

I was feeling like the Hulk one day, several months back. I mean, a rather fancy Hulk~

[Base coat: Color Club Holiday Splendor
2nd coat: Maybelline Boom Box Black
3rd coat: Color Club Holiday Splendor]
This is a delicious, green jelly sandwich. I had Maybelline Boom Box Black, a very pretty matte pale green and black hex and bar glitter, sandwiched between Color Club Holiday Splendor, which is a chunky holo in jelly green. Links in the previous sentence are to our previous swatches. This green jelly sandwich looks practically edible with the holo shine and the lovely depth from the various glitters and jelly layers.

Photos below are under fluorescent lighting to better appreciate the shiny.

Looking at these photos, I rather miss when my nails were longer.

Anyway, I think this has been one happy Hulking success of a mani. ;)

Dancing Waves - Maybelline Color Show Brocades Beaming Blue

The Maybelline Color Show Brocades collection was released last year and I have picked up quite a few from that collection since then - just can't resist the sparklies...

[Bottle to nail: Maybelline Color Show Brocades Beaming Blue (2 coats)]
Today I have Maybelline Beaming Blue, a gorgeous bright mid-blue polish with matching blue hexes and heavy gold shimmer. The gold shimmer actually gives a faux duochrome effect, and makes the blue more teal than it actually is.

[2 coats: Maybelline Color Show Brocades Beaming Blue]
This was opaque in two coats and dry time was decent, definitely need topcoat to smooth out though! Unfortunately as many people have said, wear time is not the greatest on this as the polishes from this collection tend to chip off in large flakes.

However, it's still a gorgeous shade! You could probably increase wear time by wearing a single coat over a matching base. There's definitely no lack of polishes in this colour range!

Mish-Mash - Orly Bubbly Bombshell, Coco Allure Cleopinktra, Clio S424

Once in awhile, I've got to post the occasional fail mani, and this is an example.

[Base: Orly Bubbly Bombshell
Topcoat: Coco Allure Cleopinktra
Clio S424]
The base coat is Orly's Bubbly Bombshell which is always gorgeous. Then I added Coco Allure's Cleopinktra which is a glitter topper with pink and gold hex and square glitters. It wasn't a great choice because the pink glitter blended in a little too well into Bubbly Bombshell which is a purple-pink shade. Now I needed another glitter coat for variety so I chose Clio's S424 which is just a party of glitter. Here's a link to a better example of S424 done right over a better base.

Overall, what a mess of colour choices! And the glitter looks sparse due to the similarity in colours to the base coat. What was I thinking? Haha, oh well, not the best manis I've tried so far.

Hopefully the next post will feature a superhero mani of some kind! :D

Juicy Fruit - Milani Cherry Pie

A simple post this week! Sometimes all the fancy finishes gets a bit too much, and I just feel like reaching for a basic creme polish. Nice, fuss-free, glossy shine is all I want...

[Bottle to nail: Milani Cherry Pie (1 coat)]
...and that's what I got with Milani Cherry Pie, a polish I've had for a while but never had occasion to do a full mani with before! Cherry Pie is a rich pinked red, just deep enough to class it up, but with enough pink to be fun.

[1 coat: Milani Cherry Pie]
Formula was excellent, as expected. These photos are one coat, without topcoat! Super glossy! I did end up putting a layer of topcoat on, but more for wear rather than shine. Dry time was decent as well. These photos are a bit warmer and brighter than it actually looks - the photo in the bottle is the most accurate.

[1 coat: Milani Cherry Pie]
I do feel the urge to do some stamping all over that lovely glossy canvas though, so who knows what this'll look like in a day or two! =p

Candied Eggs - Chi Chi Bubble Gum Pop Confetti Aqua, Baby Pink

Hope everyone had a great long weekend! Phew! I've had a looooong few weeks before this break, so it was definitely appreciated! It's Easter Monday today, so I'm sneaking in my Easter-inspired manicure~ =)

[Mmm... candy goodness]
Nothing like candy coloured pastels to bring Easter goodies to mind!

[Bottle to nail: ChiChi Bubble Gum Pop Confetti Aqua (index and ring);
Baby Pink (middle and pinky)]
I recently picked up a set of Chi Chi polishes from their Bubble Gum Pop Confetti line. Unfortunately these don't have names, but I picked the aqua and baby pink shades for today's mani!

[2 coats: ChiChi Bubble Gum Pop Confetti Aqua (index and ring);
Baby Pink (middle and pinky)]
This collection is a themed set of pastel cremes containing various shades of neon hexes in three sizes. These photos show two coats followed by top coat. Glitter density was pretty good, no fishing required! The glitter also laid flat and dry time was reasonable. I think it could possibly do with three coats if you have longer nails.

[2 coats: ChiChi Bubble Gum Pop Confetti Aqua (index and ring);
Baby Pink (middle and pinky)]
...and just for Easter, I stuck on a bunny water decal! I hadn't realised how translucent the decal was though, so the glitter underneath is still showing through, oops! =p

Petals Adrift - Nail Pattern Boldness I Believe I Can Fly, LA Girl Sprinkle

I really like these two polishes so I combined them to get this effect.

[Base: Nail Pattern Boldness I Believe I Can Fly
Top: LA Girl Sprinkle]
The base is Nail Pattern Boldness' I Believe I Can Fly:

[2 coats: Nail Pattern Boldness I Believe I Can Fly]

I love this polish because it's so simple but it still pops. I Believe I Can Fly has the perfect balance of jelly deep blue base, a tonne of square blue glitter and a scattering of red microglitter.

Then I topped it with LA Girl Sprinkle from the Splatter collection:

[Base: Nail Pattern Boldness I Believe I Can Fly
Top: LA Girl Sprinkle]
Sprinkle has matte white and medium pink hex glitter in a clear base. It's not the most densely packed glitter topper but that makes it perfect for combining it with other glitter polish. I like how the colour and glitter combination turned out here.
